Sleep & Wellness Support Products for Neck, Back & Posture Comfort

CervicalPillow

Available in: Standard (in stock) · Charcoal Grey (in stock) · Lavender Grey (OOS)

A contoured memory foam pillow with a raised outer section and a lowered central part that cradles the head and keeps the cervical curve in check. Keeps your head from turning too much forward — the position which causes stiffness and pain overnight. Useful for people with cervical spondylosis, cervical pain, or habitual stiffness upon waking. Best-rated item in this category.

WedgePillow

Available in: Standard (OOS) · Charcoal Grey (in stock) · Lavender Grey (OOS)

A memory foam pillow in triangular shape that elevates your upper body, torso, or even legs to a certain degree without sliding down during the night. Has multiple applications besides being used for nighttime elevation: sleeping in an elevated position to avoid GERD or acid reflux; reading in bed while resting your back; elevating legs to reduce swelling; and recovering from post-op in case you cannot lie down completely.

CoccyxCushion

In stock · Fits most chairs, car seats, dining chairs

A U-shaped memory foam cushion with an open rear that keeps the tailbone from coming into contact with the chair surface. As opposed to other cushions which reduce pressure, this cushion prevents it from happening at all. For people with coccyx problems or painful experience of having coccyx injury. The greatest bargain on this collection with 60% discount.

LumbarBack Support

In stock · Adjustable strap fits most chair backs

A contoured memory foam cushion that can be strapped to a chair or couch and placed directly behind the lumbar hollow — that space in your lower back where the curvature occurs. Filling up the hollow allows keeping your spine's natural shape by preventing it from curving when sitting. For use with home furniture, dining room chairs, car seats, office chairs. Sleep& Wellness Combo

Charcoal Grey (in stock) · Standard (OOS)

A bundle consisting of the cervical pillow along with another wellness product for a comprehensive sleep care experience. Greater value compared to cervical pillow alone. Exact details depend on the specific version and listed separately.

FAQs

The human cervical spine has lordosis (natural forward curve) that needs to be maintained throughout sleeping. Flattened pillows allow for the head to lay lower than the shoulders, stretching the back muscles and compressing the front intervertebral discs over the course of 7-8 sleeping hours every day. Overstuffed pillows, on the contrary, move the head too high, causing opposite stresses. The cervical pillow has a special shape, with a hollow area in the center and raised perimeter, helping keep the head at exact height to maintain neutral position for cervical curve while both back and side sleeping. That is the reason why older patients with cervical spondylosis experience positive effects of using it after just 1-2 days.
Coccyx (tailbone) is a small triangular bone without much natural padding. With almost every chair seat, coccyx gets direct pressure applied, and for people sitting for long periods of time or with any injuries of coccyx (fractures, bruises, pilonidal cysts), it causes substantial pain. A unique characteristic of the coccyx cushion is the rear cutout: a U-shape part of the back of the cushion that lets the coccyx float freely, without pressure onto the cushion material. Foam filling supports right parts of hips (ischial tuberosity) and takes coccyx out of the pressure area completely. Ordinary cushions distribute the pressure, whereas a coccyx cushion moves it away from one particular area.
Lumbar spine has a lordosis curve that is well supported while standing upright, however, becomes distorted while sitting due to most chair designs. Majority of chairs have flattened or slightly curved back that leaves space between spine and backrest. When lumbar curve is unsupported, pelvis tilts posteriorly and lumbar discs are unevenly loaded. Paraspinal muscles that try to maintain the curvature remain tense over time, resulting in lower back pain accumulating throughout the day. Lumbar support fills this gap, helping spine stay in correct curvature and working in optimal condition. This accessory fits almost any kind of chair, particularly car seats where many older patients suffer this exact pain.
Despite frequent purchases of this product to prevent acid from going up the food pipe at night (GERD/Reflux), there are a lot more medical purposes of this cushion. It could be used for elevating feet above heart level to decrease lower limbs edema in case of circulatory problems or lymphoedema, providing better venous return in older population; after any surgeries of abdomen, knee joint or hip joint for recovery positioning (lying down might be contraindicated); helping to open upper respiratory passages in case of snoring and mild sleep apnea; providing comfortable lumbar support during sleeping with back pain and reading/watching TV from bed.
An orthopedic pillow is a pillow that has a special shape designed to provide correct posture during sleeping in order to prevent any pains caused by incorrect position of the spine. Regular pillows differ from orthopedic ones in that regular pillows only cushion your head; whereas orthopedic ones provide support in the right position. A cervical orthopedic pillow is made in such a way that it provides the correct head position, regardless of sleep posture. The term 'orthopedic' shows the purpose of the pillow, it is not a medical device.
Yes, both lumbar support and coccyx cushion can provide posture improvement during sitting due to passive action (creation of right conditions for the correct posture). Lumbar support prevents posterior pelvic tilt by providing lumbar support, so your back is in correct posture while you sit. Coccyx cushion redistributes sitting weight distribution to coccyx and helps to improve overall sitting posture due to it. They don't replace any muscular effort, but significantly ease spine load before exercising.
If the problem is associated with pain in the neck or back during sleeping, then definitely yes – by eliminating the reason for pain in the spine, orthopedic pillows help improve sleep quality significantly. Improvement can be noticed already after 1-2 weeks. But in case of poor sleep due to other reasons (sleep apnoea, excessive nighttime urination, side effects of medications, anxiety), a pillow won't solve the problem. Cervical pillow is effective for older patients with sleeping back or side position suffering from cervical spondylosis or neck stiffness.
Select a particular product based on pain location and activity. Neck pain while waking up – Cervical Pillow. Backache while or after sitting – Lumbar Back Support. Tailbone pain while sitting – Coccyx Cushion. Acid reflux, swelling of legs, after surgery recovery, sleeping elevated – Wedge Pillow. For older patients who have both neck pain while sleeping and back pain while sitting, cervical pillow and lumbar support can be combined – they target different areas.
As a general rule, yes, they are, but you should check specific requirements from your surgeon or therapist about a particular product and use period. A cervical pillow is usually prescribed for recovery after operations on the cervical spine. For older patients who have undergone lumbar surgery, lumbar support will help them, but it's necessary to ask about the right spine position in your stage of recovery. For after surgeries of abdomen, knee or hip joint, doctors usually prescribe wedge pillow for elevation.
