Knee Pain Relief Product

The joint or muscle pain in elderly manifests when they get active. Our AGEasy line of topical pain solutions includes gels, patches, and roll-ons that deliver pain-relieving compounds quickly, efficiently, and without hassle. Cervical or neck pain needs extra attention, and we recommend wearing a cervical foam collar to provide additional postural support and minimize strain on the muscles.

Different Type of Pain Relief Products

Cervical Collar

A padded collar made of soft foam that supports your cervical spine and restricts neck movement, thereby minimizing muscular tension leading to neck stiffness and cervical pain. Indicated for use by elderly patients suffering from cervical spondylosis, chronic neck tension from improper posture, and post-effort neck pain. Usage as per doctor/physiotherapist's advice.

Pain Relief Patch (Pack of 2)

Adhesive, peel-and-stick patches with active ingredients applied directly to the area of application through the skin. Provides up to 8–12 hours of sustained pain relief without the need to apply more. Perfect option for getting some uninterrupted sleep with knee, lower back, or shoulder pain. Useful when prolonged seating or travelling makes frequent application of gel impossible.

Knee Pain Relief Patch (Single)

A patch meant to be used once for one area. Ideal choice for new customers interested in trying out this product type before purchasing a pack of two.

Pain Relief Gel (Pack of 2)

Two tubes of the same gel formula, but at a better value as compared to a single tube. Suitable for families in which one-two people use gel for pain relief in their knees/joints or muscles.

Daily use recommended. Most cost-effective entry points in the range available at ₹199, and most reviewed.

FAQs

Topical analgesics are applied externally in the form of creams, roll-ons, or patches to relieve pain and provide anti-inflammatory effect. Topical analgesics contain diclofenac sodium (an NSAID that reduces prostaglandins locally in the affected tissues), menthol (it creates a cooling effect that suppresses pain impulses), camphor and wintergreen oil (counterirritants which help increase blood flow locally), and plant-based natural actives such as arnica extract or turmeric extract which have anti-inflammatory properties. Since these drugs are applied locally and not taken orally, the body receives high concentrations of these drugs in one particular area, and not the whole body, unlike when taken orally.
Yes, since topical preparations have no effects on the stomach lining, liver, or kidneys that occur when taken by mouth, these medications are especially popular with seniors. However, since seniors' skin is very fragile, redness or rash should be observed if it occurs during use. Do not apply any topical analgesic to wounds, inflamed skin, and areas around eyes. Patches should not be worn too long on the skin – if the area becomes red or irritated, stop wearing the patch immediately. If a senior patient uses anticoagulant therapy, topical diclofenac should be consulted with a physician before using.
There are many similarities between braces and topical analgesics as both methods are intended for relieving chronic knee pain. However, their mechanism of action differs greatly. While topical pain relief treats the pain-causing chemical reaction, bracing is aimed at addressing mechanical issues such as pain caused by unstable joints. As both approaches work differently, the use of both may bring faster results in cases of chronic knee problems. In case of mild intermittent pain without mechanical factors, topical relief is enough.
Cervical collar is used as a temporary measure to ease pressure on the cervical vertebrae during periods of cervical strain or severe neck pain. It helps to stabilize the head and decrease neck movement, so the effort involved in holding the head in place decreases considerably. A soft collar should not be worn for a long period of time as otherwise; the muscles of the cervical spine can get weaker. Consult with a physiotherapist or an orthopedic physician about the optimal wearing time for a cervical collar.
Gel should be chosen as the primary product for regular knee pain treatment as its cost is low, it absorbs easily, and the price is reasonable (₹199). For longer-lasting relief: patches should be considered for use as they provide continuous analgesia up to 8-12 hours. Those who lead a hectic lifestyle and cannot find the time for applying the gel: roll-ons can be used as they leave no mess after application and can be done anytime anywhere. Knee brace is also advisable for people suffering from joint instability or pain that increases upon movement.
Since topical products have minimal effects on the internal organs due to minimum systemic absorption, they are much less dangerous than taking NSAIDs orally. However, since some patients take anticoagulant medicine, there might be adverse reactions if topical diclofenac is used regularly. In case of kidney dysfunction, topical analgesics containing NSAIDs should be avoided regardless of being applied topically. Natural-active products are relatively safer as there is less chance for a negative effect on other medicines being used by a patient.
A topical preparation should be able to create a cooling effect in 5-10 minutes. Its anti-inflammatory effect takes 30-60 minutes. To get maximum effectiveness, topical pain relief products should be applied after some movements have been performed but before vigorous physical activity. Also, for better results, wait several minutes until the product is absorbed completely before putting clothes on.
It is not safe to use gel and patches simultaneously because it will increase systemic absorption and lead to skin irritation. Using them alternately will provide better results without causing any side effects. Apply a patch for several hours and remove it to prevent skin irritation. After removing it, wait several hours before applying gel again to allow the skin to breathe.
Depending on the type of patch, it should be worn during 8-12 hours. There is no need to change it earlier than the indicated period as it works effectively during this time. If you need to change a patch after this time, do not put another one on the same spot. This can cause skin irritation as the patch area needs to be recovered for some time.
Topical pain relief should not replace medical treatments as it does not treat any joint condition but only relieves symptoms. However, it can be useful for making physiotherapy procedures more comfortable for a patient. In addition, this type of medicine can relieve pain during routine activities.
